Chez Oly Nelly: what was the starting point?
Chez Oly Nelly, a family restaurant in Montreal, wanted to grow its online orders but its website did not appear anywhere in search results. The restaurant was losing market share to better-ranked competitors.
Before working with SIB, the restaurant did not show up in relevant search results, even though it wanted to grow its online orders. Better-ranked competitors in Montreal were picking up business that could have gone to Chez Oly Nelly instead.
What did we find?
The observations below describe the issues found at the start of the work.
Technical website gaps
Chez Oly Nelly's website had technical gaps that kept it out of search results. Without a technically sound site, the restaurant stayed invisible to people searching for somewhere to order from in Montreal.
Google listing without local use
The restaurant's Google Business listing wasn't being used to capture local searches. A well-managed listing has a direct effect on whether a Montreal restaurant shows up ahead of better-ranked competitors.
No Montreal content
The site was missing local content tied to Montreal-specific searches. That kind of content is what lets a search engine connect the restaurant to searches happening in its own city.
Manual order management
Online order management and customer follow-up ran on manual processes. Once visibility improved, those manual processes risked slowing down the order growth the restaurant was trying to achieve.
